All data subjects whose personal data is collected, inline with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation. Direct Cremation Heathfield is a trading name of Wealden Funeral Services Ltd and this policy is administered by Wealden Funeral Services Ltd.

Wealden Funeral Services Ltd are responsible for ensuring that this notice is made available to data subjects prior to Wealden Funeral Services Ltd collecting/processing their personal data.

All Employees of Wealden Funeral Services Ltd who interact with data subjects are responsible for ensuring that this notice is drawn to the data subject’s attention and their consent to the processing of their data is secured.

Who are We?

Wealden Funeral Services Ltd of Heathfield Centre, Streatfield Road, Heathfield, TN21 8LA is trading as Direct Cremation Heathfield provide funeral services to members of the public, including the arrangement of funeral services, pre-payment funeral plans and memorial services. We are a family owned and independent business.

We are registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner under registration number ZA862228.

The personal data that we would like to process on you, or your deceased loved one is:

The personal data that we collect will be for used for the following purposes:

  • For the fulfilment of your funeral service
  • For the fulfilment of your funeral plan
  • For the fulfilment of your memorial order
  • Contact regarding bereavement services
  • Contact regarding any products/services that you have supplied consent to
  • Contact regarding fulfilment of any additional products that you order

Your data is collected using paper application forms, via email/website contact form and over the telephone (we do not record our calls). We do not process your data through any form of automated decision-making or profiling.

    • Relevant and appropriate relationship to fulfil a contractual need

Sharing/Disclosure

  • crematorium for the purpose of organising cremation of the deceased
  • cemetery for the purpose of organising burial of the deceased
  • doctor for contact regarding the deceased’s cremation paperwork
  • nominated celebrant for the purpose of arranging details of the funeral service
  • musician for the purpose of liaising with you for your musical choices for the funeral service
  • caterer for the purpose of supplying their services as per your request
  • stone mason or other memorial supplier as per your request for their services
  • funeral plan provider for fulfillment of your funeral plan
  • funeral finance provider for the fulfillment of your funeral finance

Accuracy of Data and Retention Period

Wealden Funeral Services Ltd will keep your data accurate in the first instance by way of the information you provide being checked and logged correctly, we will keep this updated by way of you informing us of any changes needed updating our records and destruction if any unnecessary data held. Wealden Funeral Services Ltd will process personal data for as long as necessary to allow us to fulfil your contract with us with regard to the services requested and will store the personal data for as long as is required for fulfilment if the contract and services that may be provided in the future for a funeral, memorial or pre-arranged plan.

Your rights as a data subject

At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

  • Right of Access – you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you.
  • Right of Rectification – you have the right to correct data that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Right to be forgotten – in certain circumstances you can ask for the data we hold about you to be erased from our records
  • Right to restriction of processing – where certain conditions apply to have a right to restrict processing
  • Right of portability – you have the right to have the data we hold about you transferred to another organisation
  • Right to object – you have the right to object to certain types of processing such as direct marketing
  • Right to object to automated processing, including profiling – you also have the right to be subject to the legal effects of automated processing or profiling.
  • Right to judicial review: in the event that Wealden Funeral Services Ltd refuses your request under rights of access, we will provide you with a reason as to why. You have the right to complain as outlined in "Complaints" below.

All requests must be accompanied by proof of ID. All requested will be responses to within one calendar month. Wealden Funeral Services Ltd reserves the right to decline the request if we feel it is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in this instance you have the right to complain to the ICO.

Will Wealden Funeral Services Ltd share my personal data with anyone else?

We may pass your personal data on to third-party service providers contracted to Wealden Funeral Services Ltd in the course of our arrangements with you.
